In the past year, universities and institutions all over the world have been divesting their financial holdings from the destructive and harmful fossil fuel industry. The UC system, contrary to its professed reputation as a "climate leader", still has over $3 billion invested in the leading cause of climate change. In response, UC students have mobilized students, alumni, and faculty to challenge this hypocrisy and pressure the UC Regents to divest. Due to immense student power last semester, the head of the Committee on Investments, Regent Richard Sherman, said he "embraced our campaign". However, Sherman hasn't taken any concrete action to respond to the urgency of climate change. Join the movement and take action to ensure our university will invest in a just and sustainable future!
